The Kiangoi washing station is one of three wet mills affiliated with the Rungeto Cooperative Society in Kirinyaga, Central Kenya. The producers that belong to the Cooperative are located on the slopes of Mount Kenya - A region known for its volcanic soils and intense, complex, and flavour dense coffees!
It's an interesting time for Kenyan coffee. With climatic changes and the rising popularity of disease resistant varieties, there is a broader range of flavour profiles now than ever before. It's still possible to find those classic, jammy, blackcurrant cups, but flavours of plums, red fruit, hoppy florals, and citrus fruits are becoming increasingly common.
We've been roasting coffee from Kiangoi for three years, and we think these lots are a great example of just how tasty this new wave of Kenyan coffee can be. Expect a well balanced and juicy cup with notes of blackberry, redcurrant and hemp-like herbals. Delicious!
